Priorities for Excellence: Penn State's Strategic Plan for 2009-2010 through 2013-2014

Implementation of Priorities for Excellence

The strategic plan articulates seven goals. This five year plan differs from previous plans because a clearly defined process for implementing the plan was included in the appendices and key administrators were assigned primary or secondary responsibility for the implementation of each strategy. The Strategy Implementation Matrix in the plan (Appendix 5) identifies those leaders responsible for pursuing the actions required to implement the strategies associated with each goal, the projected start date, a general indication of fiscal impact of each strategy, and selected measures of performance.

At the start of each year of implementation, the administrators with primary responsibility for strategies scheduled to be implemented in that year are tasked by the Provost to submit a progress report at the end of the year. Information in these progress reports is used to periodically update the Board of Trustees, the Academic Leadership Council, the Faculty Senate, and other key stakeholders, and can be found at Progress and Performance.
