What’s New

Penn State’s work on developing the University strategic plan for 2009-2010 through 2013-2014 continues. A summary of the planning process is available at /strategic_planning/uspc/process.html.

As in past years, this spring the annual Quality Issues Forum, sponsored by the Executive Vice President and Provost and the Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment (OPIA) will recognize recent examples of process improvement and innovation. In 2008, more than sixty teams were recognized for their efforts. With the recent state budget rescissions, these efforts to increase efficiency and effectiveness are even more important. Let us recognize your unit’s process improvements at the 2009 Forum by entering your team in the OPIA database.

For 21 years the Baldrige National Quality Program has provided criteria for a comprehensive analysis of organizational performance and progress toward excellence. The 2009-2010 Education Criteria for Performance Excellence is available at http://www.quality.nist.gov/Education_Criteria.htm.
