Reengineering

Reengineering is the substantial redesign of a process. It involves a radical change to reach an order of magnitude improvement (possibly to reach a “stretch” goal).

Technology may be an enabler of reengineering. But with the technology and reengineering will likely come cultural changes, driven by such things as information now widely available in an on-line database. Consequently, when you look at reengineering the processes in an organization, you must also be ready to change leadership, management, and followership styles in that organization. There must be alignment between the organization’s vision and goals, and its reengineering efforts.
