Date Started:
June 2015
Objective:

In order to provide more efficient service to research faculty and staff, a comprehensive analysis of the various roles and responsibilities involved in research pre- and post-award grant management are being undertaken.

Such a review has never been completed at the College of Medicine before, but would provide critical insight into existing challenges as well as opportunities to improve workflow and job satisfaction among employees who support our research mission.

It is expected that new models for enhanced service delivery would incorporate best practices and consistently-applied standard operating procedures. These would include better backup support for staff in smaller departments, greater subject-matter expertise, and more clearly defined career paths for employees engaged in pre- and post-award management. As a result, we hope to ensure greater work quality and customer satisfaction.
