To explore and make recommendations to the University Libraries Information Technology Coordination and Communication Group for providing a room reservation system that can be used to manage the group study rooms and collaborative spaces in the University Libraries, and have applications for the Commonwealth Campus Libraries, Information Technology Services and other University learning environments.

Expected Results:

Recommend a real-time room reservation system that will allow users to create their own room reservations, while allowing library staff to continue to assist users and gather use data for all the group study rooms and collaborative spaces in the University Libraries as well as other University units.

To date we have been able to use the selection criteria provided by our sponsors and existing group study room policies to reduce the number of possible solutions. The group has encountered a number of other similar projects that have occurred across the University. In a year or two, a University-wide room reservation system will be purchased and implemented. We are continuing to identify an interim solution to meet the University Libraries’ needs. The construction and implementation of the Knowledge Commons in the University Libraries has also played a significant role in recommending a solution.
