To improve production of Outreach magazine.

Communication time with freelance writers has been reduced as a result of the "Guidelines for Writers"

The story idea process now includes broader consultation and an increased emphasis on Outreach and Cooperative Extension strategic goals

Increased production of magazines from two magazines-20-24 pages in length per year to three magazines-60-80 pages in length per year

The number of issues produced increased by 317 percent

The time to produce the magazines was reduced and on a regular schedule

Due to the magazine’s higher quality editorial content and design and expanded audience, there has been a 500 percent increase in the number of articles submitted from communicators

Comments from faculty members indicate that being featured in Penn State Outreach Magazine has led other faculty members to contact them about collaborating on outreach and research. Faculty report high visibility among peers at other institutions and recommend using the Magazine in the grant process for future initiatives

By delivering each of the three issues on time, it could be mailed bulk rate versus first class-an annual savings of: 10 cents per copy at 9,000 copies for a total of $900
